West Ham United have reportedly started talks with Juventus over the possibility of signing USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie.
West Ham United have held talks with Serie A giants Juventus as they work on a deal to secure Weston McKennie’s transfer, according to a Football Insider report.
The 23-year-old midfielder joined the Bianconeri in the summer of last year, initially on loan, but an impressive first season at Turin prompted Juventus to make his transfer permanent. However, despite having done so, it looks like the Italian giants are now considering the prospect of selling it.
Problems off the pitch have become a concern as McKennie has already violated Covid-19 guidelines a few times while he doesn’t appear to be much favored by returning manager Massimiliano Allegri, given he hasn’t started only three games so far this season for Juventus.
With a possibility of a sale, West Ham United are trying to arrange a move for McKennie and are said to have already started talks with the Bianconeri to sort out the details of a move.

West Ham had a decent transfer window in which they bolstered their midfield with the loan signing of Alex Kral. However, there is no certainty that his signing would be made permanent at the end of the season. Moreover, club captain Mark Noble is also set to retire at the end of the season, which would leave a hole in the midfield department for the Hammers.
As a result, David Moyes & co. are looking to secure the signing of a new midfielder, with Juventus’ Aaron Ramsey also on the radar of the east London giants. And now Ramsey’s teammate McKennie has also become a transfer target for Moyes & co.
Despite his offenses off the pitch, McKennie remains a talented footballer who, at 23, has his best years ahead of him. International USMNT crowned 25 times, he would add power, energy and motivation to this West Ham United midfield unit, which should complement well with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
And, with negotiations already underway, it will be interesting to see if West Ham is able to strike a deal with Juventus to secure McKennie’s signature.
