Porsche Carrera Cup driver Cameron Hill will move on to the Dunlop Super2 Series after signing with powerful Triple Eight Race Engineering team.
A Porsche series favorite over the past three seasons, Hill will be stepping out of his own family business for the first time to drive one of the two entries that Triple Eight will once again race in the second tier of Supercar racing.
“Driving for Triple Eight in Super2 is the start of an exciting new chapter in my career. Said Hill.
“I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished as a small family team in Formula Ford, Toyota 86 Series and Carrera Cup, and the opportunity to drive for the most professional and successful team in the country is the culmination of all our efforts in these categories. . “
The 2015 Formula Ford champion is excited about the opportunity to join the successful team which now has a proven track record with Broc Feeney rising to the Supercars Championship in 2022.
“It’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was 10 years old.” Hill continued.
“As a kid, I remember sitting in front of the TV watching Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup win Bathurst three years in a row. “
“When Jamie called me up and welcomed me to the team, it was a surreal moment.”
Hill currently leads the Porsche Carrera Cup points standings with rounds at Mt Panorama and The Bend yet to run.
“I am proud of what I have accomplished in the Carrera Cup, but to achieve my career goals it became clear that I had to focus on Supercars as it is the pinnacle of professional motor racing here in Australia. ; when you look at the drivers who have recently progressed to the main game, they’ve all completed at least one Super2 season. said Colline.
“I’m going to have to learn the intricacies of racing a Supercar, but driving for Triple Eight will provide me with the best possible environment to make a smooth transition from the Porsche.”
“My expectations for 2022 are realistic but they are also high. I’ll have a great car and a great team, so there’s no reason I can’t fight for race wins.
Future Triple Eight general manager Jamie Whincup highlighted the success of the Triple Eight Super2 program and praised Hill for his racing achievements.
