TUMPAT: Refusing to surrender to fate, an information technology (IT) engineer fought to change the “path” of his life, from managing computers and telecommunications networks to preparing drinks.

Wan Mohd Azizul Solehin Wan Mohd Yusoff(Photo), 38, said the Covid-19 pandemic had taken its toll, forcing him to liquidate his business, an IT company he founded in 2016.

“My income as a computer engineer was severely affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic … business was bad and my heart was heavy, at the end of 2019 I quit my job as a computer engineer and I decided to venture into a new field. .

“I want to make ice cream and drinks made from milk and coffee. So I am learning the technique of making ice cream via Youtube and also asking for advice from friends who also run a similar business, ”he said when meeting at Glace Cafe in Pasir Pekan here.

He opened the cafe earlier this year with business partners Mohd Azhiim Razak, 34, and Muhd ​​Ariff Fauzan Mohd Hanafi, 35.

Wan Mohd Azizul Solehin, married with two children aged five and seven, said he spent around RM2,000 to buy a used ice cream machine and was unable to offer higher quality ice cream with various “toppings” than when the business started.

“Apparently it’s not an easy thing for me who am used to dealing with computer systems to switch to ice cream making. It was a real test of patience, ”said the computer engineering graduate from Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL).

He said that due to the many competitions he decided to focus on producing ice cream drink concoctions.

“Having previously worked overseas, including Japan, Thailand and the Philippines, this inspired me to produce various variations of milk-based drinks and coffee-based ice cream, which are considered there as “street drinks”, “he added.

Wan Mohd Azizul Solehin said that he has been able to offer more than 65 types of coffee drink mixes, which has a Korean concept and is open daily from noon to 9 p.m.

“The most popular are Fantasy Glace, Starry Cheese, Biscoff Cheese, BubbleGum Marshmellow, Matcha Apple and Tutti Fruitti. The price is RM8 for the regular size and RM15 for the large size, ”he said.

A customer, Ummi Syakirah Che Hazaha, 21, from Kampung Binjai, said she discovered the cafe on Instagram.

“He has over 65 types of drink concoctions, which to me is something extraordinary. I think this is the only cafe in Kelantan that has so many types of drinks, worth uploading to Instagram, ”she added. –Bernama
