Launch services provider Southern Launch and Engineers Australia have signed a service level agreement in a bid to “propel” the careers of the company’s engineering team.

All Southern Launch engineers will receive a membership of Engineers Australia as part of the agreement, allowing them access to its library of engineering journals and technical resources.

The agreement will also give Southern Launch Engineers the opportunity to be recognized through its annual awards programs.

Southern Launch engineers can now apply for Chartered status through the Partnership Agreement.

Andrew Curran, Managing Director of Southern Launch Infrastructure, has been named Professional Engineer of the Year 2021 (South Australia) by Engineers Australia.

Mr. Curran commented on the new deal, outlining how it will benefit those affected.

“The agreement between Southern Launch and Engineers Australia will promote recognition of our team’s innovations and achievements, while demonstrating Southern Launch’s commitment to excellence in the global profession,” said Curran.

“Being a member of EA has given me success in my own career, and I’m thrilled to see this deal giving launch engineers across the South the same opportunity to succeed in their own careers.”

Engineers Australia South Australia chief executive Lauran Huefner said the organization was “delighted” to partner with Southern Launch.

“Accredited degrees are internationally recognized and benchmarked, demonstrating that Australian engineers are at the forefront of the world and meet world-class skill standards.

“At a time when more and more states are moving to mandate the registration of engineers, achieving Chartered Engineer status demonstrates an additional level of commitment to achieving best practices. The conclusion of this agreement by Southern Launch indicates the importance of standards, such as Chartered, to the emerging civil space sector.”
