Arsenal are set to part ways with record signing Nicolas Pépé this summer after three dismal seasons together. The Ivorian arrived in north London after a solid campaign in France with Lille, but he never really settled in England, and it looks like a return to France could be on the cards for the Ivorian.
foot market report today, Ligue 1 champions PSG have been offered the chance to sign Pépé and bring him back into the French top flight. With PSG’s new sporting director Luis Campos having a previous working relationship with Pepe since their spell at Lille, a reunion could indeed be on the cards.
It’s a decision that would make sense for the Parc des Princes team. Angel Di Maria, also a left-footed right winger, is set to leave the French capital this summer, so Pepe would be something of a similar replacement. Returning to a league where he once did so well would also appeal to Pepe.
The Ivorian is actively looking to leave Arsenal this summer. He recently appointed a new agent to manage his future and if he was able to arrange a move to PSG for his new client, Pepe would no doubt be delighted. The opportunity to line up alongside Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar would be incredibly hard to turn down for a man who endured a very difficult few years in England.
As for Arsenal, they will be interested to see what kind of deal they can strike. They will inevitably take a hit on the £72million they have spent on Pepe, but offloading his wages would certainly benefit the Gunners. Regarding a replacement, it looks like young Brazilian winger Marquinhos will take Pepe’s place as Bukayo Saka’s understudy next season. Serge Gnabry is also on the club’s radar.
