LNBTI Launches Japan’s First Computer Industry-Focused Study Program

September 15, Colombo: Lanka Nippon BizTech Institute (LNBTI) launched its first degree program today (September 15) at the premises of KNBTI in Maharagama, in the presence of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Japanese Ambassador Hideaki Mizukoshi.

LNBTI is an accredited degree-granting institute for its unique computer science degree program, BSc (Hons) Software Engineering. LNBTI becomes the first and only Japanese higher education institute in Sri Lanka to offer an employment-oriented Japanese curriculum approved by the Ministry of Education.

The Prime Minister thanked the institution for introducing such degree programs at a time when the country needed them.

The main feature of the new computer science degree program is that job opportunities in the Japanese private sector will be available for Sri Lankan students graduating from this university. In addition, investment opportunities in the IT sector will also be available to them. Computer related programs in Sri Lanka.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Mizukoshi extended his warm congratulations to the LNBTI for being accredited as a degree-awarding institute in this special year of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Sri Lanka pointing out that the LNBTI’s efforts would ultimately create a win-win situation for both countries by providing IT human capital to Japan and revitalizing the Sri Lankan economy by earning foreign currency.

He also pointed out that LNBTI graduates will become goodwill ambassadors in the future and elevate Japan-Sri Lanka relations to a higher level, expanding our relationship in IT and beyond.

LNBTI was established in 2016 as a joint venture between two companies, Metatechno in Japan and hSenid in Sri Lanka, and it is the only institute of higher education in Sri Lanka that offers education specifically tailored to the Japanese labor market .

Combining the characteristics of Japanese culture with a carefully curated curriculum, studying at LNBTI ensures that students are equipped with the skills and training necessary to pursue rewarding career opportunities in the IT field in Japan.

It is unique in that it develops human resources that are well suited to Japanese society by teaching not only computer science, but also Japanese language and Japanese business culture.

LNBTI is the only Japanese institute of higher education in South Asia to offer quality computer science study programs with a professional and permanent employment arrangement in the Japanese computer industry.

The institute’s close relationships with its Japanese professional counterparts are due in part to the synergies between its parent companies Metatechno Inc, Japan and hSenid Group of Companies, Sri Lanka.
