ISP Onestream signs deal with Vodafone to launch UK FTTP broadband upgrade

Onestream, the Hampshire-based home and business broadband ISP, has signed a new “strategic agreementwith Vodafone – worth an estimated £40m over 2 years – which will allow them to expand beyond superfast broadband (FTTC) plans to launch a new range of SOGEA and Gigabit Fibre-to plans -the-Premises (FTTP).

The details of this deal are unclear, although we can assume it likely reflects Vodafone’s provision of some sort of managed wholesale service to Onestream. But it’s unclear from the announcement whether this only covers Openreach’s physical network, or whether Vodafone now also offers managed access to Cityfibre’s FTTP infrastructure (Vodafone works with both).

Either way, Onestream said it will soon start providing FTTP broadband packages to consumers under the product name ‘real fiber‘ and aim to add 50,000 new connections over the next two years,”double its customer base to 100,000” (they currently claim to sign a “average of 3,000 customers per month“).

Aaron Brown, co-founder of Onestream, said:

“Through this partnership with Vodafone, we will reach more customers than any other broadband provider, as well as the ability to bring Gigabit speeds to more homes and business premises.

Alongside the significant expansion of our sales and customer service teams, this puts us in a unique position to deliver resilient, high-speed, quality broadband to millions of people across the UK. This represents a huge opportunity for us and our customers as the power of FTTP connections brings reliable and fast broadband speeds straight to homes across the UK.

We are delighted to take this important step in our mission to be at the forefront of the Gigabit revolution and the UK’s broadband provider of choice, with the capacity and reach that make Onestream “The One for Everyone”.

The announcement comes just months after Onestream announced that they plan to create up to 80 new jobs over the next year, which follows their recent move to larger premises (6,000 square feet). at Whiteley (Solent Way) – double the size of their previous base at Parkway (Solent Business Park).

UPDATE

It has been confirmed to us that they will be able to sell via the solutions based on Openreach and Cityfibre on the Vodafone platform.
