Pune, 08 October 2022: The percentage of admissions to engineering degree courses after 10th class in the state has increased by 10-15% for three consecutive years. This year, 85% of seats in the state of Maharashtra were admitted, and the highest 91% of admissions were in Amravati division.
The Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Chandrakant Patil, gave this information in a press release. The admissions process for the year 2022-23 for the first year post-class 10th diploma course is complete.
The total number of students enrolled in courses was 41% in 2018-2019, 50% in 2019-2020, 60% in 2020-21 and 70% in 2021-22. This year, 85% were admitted. This year, nearly one lakh places were available for degree courses. A total of 84,452 students were admitted.
In statistics by department, 91% of students from Amravati division, 86% from Aurangabad division, 82% from Mumbai division, 68% from Nagpur division, 78% from Nashik division and 90% from Pune division have been admitted to engineering.
A degree in technical education proves to be a great option as an employable course. There is a need to provide students with quality education and job-oriented technical training through the After School Technical Education Directorate. Consequently, the flow of students to this sector has increased. Patil appealed for the upward graph of admission to degree courses to be maintained.
