Everton ‘provided to sign’ four players in January transfer window

The success of Everton’s season could depend on the January transfer window.

Financial fair play regulations are likely to prevent any sort of big spending spree, although spending can be just as important to Rafa Benitez as income.

Everton are tasked with offloading some first-team players that the club no longer need, in order to free up funds and downsize.

The Blues continue to be linked with transfers despite the uncertainty surrounding FFP, and here are four players the bookmakers have identified as targets.

Aaron Ramsey – 5/1

Juventus are said to be working on a deal to terminate Aaron Ramsey’s contract in the January window.

The Welshman has two more years to complete his current Serie A contract, although it’s fair to say it’s a move that hasn’t worked for either the player or the club.

A return to the Premier League is expected as the most likely outcome at the moment, with Newcastle United currently the favorite for signing ahead of the Blues (4/1).

An experienced figure at the highest level, Ramsey could prove to be an effective transfer company.

Donny van de Beek – 8/1

A player Everton were linked with this summer.

Despite the Blues’ obvious interest, a decision was blocked by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who reassured the 24-year-old that he remains firmly in his plans for the coming season.

The Dutch midfielder has found himself stuck among the substitutes again and has accumulated just 16 minutes of Premier League action this term.

Whether it’s a loan or a permanent change, Donny Van de Beek is likely to be desperate to find a way out of Old Trafford after failing just a few months ago.

Ivan Toney – 16/1

Ivan Toney has been on Premier League clubs’ radar long before his Premier League move to Brentford.

The 25-year-old’s scoring exploits during his two seasons at Peterborough United did not go unnoticed as it was a matter of time whether he would come to the fore.

It was rumored that Everton was interested in Toney when he was still in League One, but it was Thomas Frank’s side that became the team to take a risk with the prolific forward.

His goals kicked the Bees into the Premier League in his debut season and Toney has enjoyed a positive start to life in the top flight, having already made two appearances at Newcastle level in the 2015/16 season.

Brentford will be reluctant to sell his star man and are reportedly looking for a fee well above the £ 5million paid to secure his services in 2020.

Nathan Ake – 20/1

An unorthodox option.

Since joining Manchester City from Bournemouth last season, Premier League outings have been rare for Nathan Ake.

A hamstring injury limited his playing time in the second half of the 20/21 campaign, although he has continued to be neglected this year.

Stuck behind Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Ruben Dias in the pecking order, the Dutch defender may well have to look for other opportunities in order to feature more consistently.

Defense has become somewhat of a problematic position for Everton and Ake would be a welcome addition to the squad.
