In order to make Karachi free from environmental pollution and ensure a clean environment, DMC East has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sindh Forestry Department (SFD) to play its part in plantation including establishment of an urban forest in the eastern district, after the provision of places by the DMC East Sindh forest. department is required to establish urban forests as well as large-scale plantations. The DMC East Parks Department will provide all possible cooperation in this regard.
Senior Director Park Tauqeer Abbas and Divisional Forestry Officer Maqsood Memon signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of DMC East Administrator Rahmatullah Sheikh, Superintendent Engineer Salman Memon and Parks Jamshed Zone Director Zafar Iqbal.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the Sindh Forestry Department will provide necessary technical services to the staff of the Parks Department and will be responsible for supplying plants and seeds for planting, while the gardeners in particular will be trained. through necessary plant and seed information including technical skills while DMC East would provide spaces for urban forest and planting as well as ensuring water supply and plant security. DMC East Administrator Rahmatullah Sheikh said on the occasion that the creation of the urban forest was the need of the hour.
It has become imperative to promote greenery in every district of Karachi, we will stand with the government of Sindh to promote greenery, the weather and the environment of Karachi is suffering from environmental troubles that will need to be addressed to eliminate and protect the citizens from the environmental ills.
He requested the officers of the parks department to cooperate fully with the Sindh Forest Department as per the signed Memorandum of Understanding.
