The former governor spoke on Wednesday during his familiarization visit with party members to Oye, Ikole, Ekiti East and Gbonyi local government areas of the state ahead of the elections.

The SDP candidate who instructed the people to prepare for the task ahead said, “God willing, the SDP will govern Ekiti and Nigeria after winning the governorship and the presidential election, so be ready because serious business must require a serious approach.

Regarding the increase in kidnapping cases in the state, the SDP candidate said that the issue has become a serious war against the state and the nation, which must be addressed with all seriousness.

According to him, “I call on Governor Kayode Fayemi, PhD War Studies, to use his knowledge to combat kidnappings in the state. The kidnappers have declared war on our people, it has been going on for about four years and it hasn’t stopped. As an engineer, I will fix any engineering problem the state faces.

“He shouldn’t just hunt them, but arrest them and bring them to the book. This he should do before October 16, 2022, when he will leave office to justify the mandate that the people gave him four years ago.

He urged the electorate not to hand over their voter registration card to anyone saying, “you have to secure it to vote for good governance, freedom and use it to return them.”

Also speaking in the local governments of Efon, Ijero and West Ekiti, Oni, urged SDP members to launch door-to-door campaigns and mobilize in markets and farms to raise awareness to vote for it on election day.

Oni described the People’s Democratic Party, seen as a major opposition to Ekiti, as a dead party that will be buried on June 18, saying, “the party is dead, we will only do the funeral with this upcoming election.”

The former governor assured that he would use the few resources returning to Ekiti to develop the state as he did during his first term.
