ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Housing and Public Works and the China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the construction of low-cost housing units as well as the improvement of slums for low-income citizens from Pakistan across the country.

This massive initiative will cover the essential elements of community life with the provision of clean water and a hygienically safe environment.

The MoU was signed by Dr Imran Zeb Khan, Housing & Works Secretary on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, and Qin Guomin, Chief Representative of M / s China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. on behalf of China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd.

Through this MoU, the government of Pakistan wishes to seek Chinese investment in construction and housing sectors to undertake megaprojects that will create vast employment opportunities in the country, which will ultimately promote economic development. from Pakistan. The MoU will provide a basis for the construction of affordable housing units as well as the construction of infrastructure, namely roads, water supply, supply of electricity, natural gas, water system. sewer and related facilities. According to the MoU, the project could be integrated into the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during a future implementation.

The MoU stipulated that China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd would play an important role in promoting financing, feasibility study, investment estimation, planning, design and construction of housing projects. On the other hand, the Government of Pakistan, through the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, will play an important role in providing land, changing the nature of land, acquiring land, building permits. building and construction, transfer of property rights, mortgage policy, marketing and sale of housing. units, etc
