BPUT launches the process of introducing Integrated Dual Degree Courses – The New Indian Express

ROURKELA: Following government approval, Rourkela Biju Patnaik University of Technology has started the process of introducing B Technology and five-year Integrated Dual Degree courses (BTech and MTech) from this academic session .

On September 9, the university had issued an admission notice for the integrated four-year and five-year B Tech dual degree courses (B Tech and M Tech) at its headquarters campus under the Center for Advanced Post Graduate Studies (CAPGS). BPUT Vice-Chancellor Professor CR Tripathy said OJEE has been notified and interested candidates can apply for admission to the new courses through OJEE guidance, in accordance with government rules. The advisory process is expected to be completed by the end of October.

Incidentally, CAPGS already runs five M Tech postgraduate programs in Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunications, Civil, Mechanical and Computer Science, but the course response has not been satisfactory. On the fate of existing M Tech courses, the Vice-Chancellor said the government has yet to communicate on this. “The government is considering closing or continuing the programs,” he said. The BPUT campus has hostels for 400 students. The necessary funds have been deposited with the Department of Works for the establishment of another 600-bed boys’ home on campus.

The four-year B Tech degree courses include Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering. Each program has a capacity of 30.

Similarly, the five-year integrated dual degree programs offer B Tech in Civil Engineering and M Tech in Structural Engineering, B Tech in Mechanical Engineering and M Tech in Machinery Design, B. Tech in Electrical Engineering and M Tech in Engineering Electrical Systems, B Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering and M Tech in Signal Processing and Communication and B Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and M Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. Each double degree program has 10 places.

Works Department Subdivisional Officer Ashutosh Jena said that the civil construction as well as electrical and water works tender will soon be launched for the boys hostel at an estimated cost of 43 crores. The project would be completed within 15 months of the award of the works.
