Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has taken another big step in his budding career after completing an undergraduate program at Buckinghamshire New University in the UK.
The 24-year-old recently completed a dream move to new English Premier League side Nottingham Forest in a club-record transfer fee of £17million, said he was happy he was able to marry education with his demanding career as a footballer. .
A holder of a degree in business administration and marketing management, Awoniyi joins an exclusive list of Nigerian footballers with university degrees, including his mentor Seyi Olofinjana who was an undergraduate chemical engineering student at the University. of Ladoke Akintola Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, during its heyday.
“Of course I do other things on the sidelines,” the amiable Awoniyi told NationSport during the week. “I graduated in Business and Marketing Management two years ago from the London School of International Business.
“I am also happy to inform you that I have just completed a business management degree program at Buckinghamshire New University and will be graduating next month,” he added.
It was further understood that the University will hold its graduation week from September 5-9 at the Wycombe Swan Theater in High Wycombe.

Awoniyi joins an impressive list of sports and entertainment celebrities who have passed through the 131-year-old university famous for its motto “Arte et industria” which translates to “Art and industry” in English.
Other notable Buckinghamshire New University alumni include multi-talented English actor, comedian and musician Noel Fielding; English field hockey girl Chloe Naomi Rogers as well as British fit rower and 2012 Summer Paralympic gold medalist Naomi Joy Riches among others.
Meanwhile, Awoniyi has spoken exclusively to The Nation about his expectations with Nottingham Forest as he makes his long-awaited Premier League debut as the 2022/23 season kicks off this weekend.
