In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, Transfer insider Dean Jones has revealed that Aston Villa are in a strong position to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma. Jones said,

“At some point he has to leave Brighton. He’s not going to stay there, and Aston Villa will be in a good position to sign him. »

Bissouma’s solid campaign in English football

Bissouma has been a consistent performer at the American Express Community Stage for the past two years. The Mali international has one goal and one goal in 19 appearances for the Seagulls this season across all fronts.

The 25-year-old has performed well averaging 3.4 shots, 2.0 steals, 1.6 clearances and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He even took care of the ball when distributing possession from midfield after completing 88.9% of his pass attempts in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Is Bissouma the right choice for Aston Villa?

Bissouma is a decent tackler off the ball and can make important interceptions for his team in the center of the park. He can offer solid protection to his teammates in the back, eliminating danger when needed. The 18-time Malian international is even capable of making a few smart runs with the ball towards the opponents’ penalty area. He has a wealth of experience in English football and ticks the right boxes in terms of what Aston Villa need this summer.

Currently, Bissouma is playing some of the best football in his playing career. So, it only makes sense that Steven Gerrard is staging a move to lure him to Villa Park during the summer transfer window.

At 25, the Brighton star is set to embark on the early years of his playing career, so he’s well equipped to make an instant impact for the Villans if Gerrard can find a way to get him involved this summer. .

Bissouma will be a great choice for the West Midlands side as he will inject a lot of quality into their midfield department and could help them challenge European football in the coming seasons.
