Arsenal among the clubs hoping to sign this Ligue 1 ace – the official 4th

In a recent report, Foot Mercato claimed Arsenal are among several clubs hoping to sign Paris Saint-Germain full-back Colin Dagba. It is believed the Gunners could face competition in the form of Real Betis, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund in pursuit of French talent next summer.

Dagba’s limited playing time in French football this season

Dagba has struggled to find playing time at Parc des Princes during this campaign as he has only made four appearances for PSG this season, collecting an assist in the process on all fronts.

The French right-back played a much bigger role for his current employers in the previous campaign when he made 33 appearances for the Paris side, registering one goal and two assists in all competitions. However, Dagba struggled to gain attention as he averaged 0.9 tackles, 0.6 steals, 0.7 clearances and 0.5 key assists per game in Ligue 1 last season. However, the 23-year-old was precise in distributing the ball after making 90.8% of his league football pass attempts (stats via whoscored).

Is Dagba a good choice for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta?

Dagba can use his speed and agility to come back and defend his penalty area when needed. He’s a solid tackler and has a good pace of work on the right flank. The French sensation can even throw dangerous crosses into the opposing penalty area and is adept at holding the ball for his team. However, the talented full-back has to work to improve his productivity in the final third if he is ever to be a top player in his job.

At 23, Dagba has a bright future ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Gunners to consider in the long run. We can expect him to add serious competition to Takehiro Tomiyasu for a regular starting spot at Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons.

All things considered, it makes sense that Mikel Arteta will organize a move to bring Dagba to the English capital at the end of this campaign, as the player will certainly improve the quality of Arsenal’s squad on match day.
